We are a family of popcorn nuts so we have tried almost every popcorn machine available - our local charity shop has done well out of it. Our luck changed when we bought this Halogen machine from JM Posner. The machine arrived in two days, very well packed in an outer box and then in its own box. The machine is bigger than the picture on Amazon led us to believe, it can cook from two to six ounces of excellent popcorn in about three minutes and six ounces is a lot of popcorn and would do a family of six.The advantage of this machine over hot air is that the corn is cooked using a small amount of oil - we use pure coconut oil which gives the corn a fabulous flavour. We also use a small amount of salt which is poured onto to corn before popping . The machine is very easily cleaned as it has a non- stick surface on the heated tray. It is a very light machine and should be handled with care but having said that it will last for years if treated gently. The instruction manual is simple and straight to the point it gives the recommended amount of corn and oil to use which worked to perfection for us. Buy one today, you won't regret it. And no I have not been paid to write this or given any incentive, I just love this gadget.

Four Stars
Easy to use, and very easy to clean. It does burn some of the popcorn but it's very good.

Makes great tasting popcorn and can roast green coffee beans.
As other reviewers have said it makes great tasting popcorn but that was not the only thing that I wanted to cook in it.In just under ten minutes it can turn 125 grams of raw green coffee beans into 107 grams of well roasted coffee. My first attempts have produced similar results to those that I can get with a dedicated coffee bean roaster that cost me ten times as much. I haven't managed to monitor the internal temperature of the beans but I can see them turn from green to brown, hear the two different crack sounds and smell the delicious roast coffee smell. The other bonus is this machine is very easy to clean and is perfect for roasting small amounts of coffee. I would not consider roasting only 125 grams of coffee in the other roaster. Before this I used a dry frying pan and constant stirring for small amounts of coffee.I realise that by using the machine for longer times and slightly higher temperatures (corn pops at 180C and my coffee roasts go to 210C) I have probably invalidated my warranty. I think that it will be worth the risk if I get just a few kilos of coffee roasted before having to buy another of these great machines.I have attached a photo of some Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee that I roasted in the JM Posner popcorn maker.

It works fine , but saying it's halogen is deceiving people because simply it's NOT Halogen as the tube bulb heating up has got Coil inside it to heat, instead of having halogen which is a gas , please don't make faked descriptions

Good Popcorn Maker
Good Popcorn Maker. I read all the other reviews before buying and indeed, like others already pointed out, this machine may burn popcorn if you don't watch it out. I have used coconut oil and the popcorn really taste better with it; I have used also other oil types, but the coconut one wins - as the popcorn are much softer and tastier. Overall it's a good popcorn maker - I had very few popcorn burnt (and by few I mean 5/6). I guess once I work out better the timing I won't burn any. I don't know how many popcorns were burnt for the other users but I was expecting more from what I read. Luckily it turned out that the 'burning' is not such a real issue, at least from my experience. Easy to clean as well, and the 'dome' form the machine can be used as bowl, so less things to clean up too. I definitely prefer the popcorn made with this machine than the ones cooked in the microwaves - it's also healthier cooking them in this way. If you are a popcorn fan, this machine is the right purchase ;)

I just try to shoot out the burnt layer (wasteful) because it's better than no popcorn
Back in Canada I used the "West Bend 82306X Stir Crazy 6-Quart Electric Popcorn Popper" for about three years, at least 3 times a week. Not once did I burn my popcorn, even when I left the machine on a couple minutes after the kernels had popped. However, every time I use the "Halogen Popcorn Maker" (which is double the price I paid for the other one) in the UK, I burn the popcorn. I've tried putting less popcorn, but it seems that the machine gets way too hot, so I have to turn it off before most of the kernels have popped. This method of making popcorn is delicious, but the machine keeps burning my popcorn. Maybe mines defective. In the end, I just try to shoot out the burnt layer (wasteful) because it's better than no popcorn.

Alot better than popcorn made in a pan just for the much better coating it gives. Very quick as well.I have used it twice now and am getting burnt popcorn at the bottom but I think this is my own fault. The bowl gets very greasy and I transfer the popcorn into a clean bowl so not to get grease on the sofa etc.
