We let it air out for 48 hours (it recommends 48-72 hours), and it has held up perfectly good for a larger 285lb individual. He said swapping to these was infinitely better, and he wasn't worried about staying on the bed long-term anymore. Thanks in advance!** A: It's not gel infused, and I don't use it when sleeping, so I can't answer your question fully. I bought this set for two (2) primary purposes: 1.) My wife underwent foot surgery and needed to keep her foot elevated at night for several weeks afterwards to minimize pain/swelling, so we used some of the pillows for this purpose and they worked wonderfully. They're very configurable, so she could adjust them as/when necessary to relieve discomfort, and they were firm enough to keep her foot elevated throughout the night. 2.) I needed a better way to prop myself up for whenever I read or watch TV for extended periods of time at night in bed, and again, this pillow set works very well for that purpose. They're well made; can be configured in many different ways; and are fairly priced for what you get. I'd rate them 5/5 stars. I can't speak to whether or not they make you hot while sleeping, but I haven't noticed them being excessively warm when I've read for an hour or longer at night and was using them for support. If you don't know, shoulder surgery is miserable and sleeping is difficult. This set worked for me. Seemed a bit larger than most, which at 6' tall works fine for me. Not crazy about the fabric cover, but all the value to me was to be able to get some sleep. Had to sleep on my back after surgery, which is not normal for me. And certainly not turn over onto the shoulder while sleeping. This set let me do that.
