However what I did was to buy a bottle of ink pad refill, remove the pad that comes with it, recharge it and replace the pad. **Q: Do you have to rock this to get it to print all the date on an egg. Mine either misses the start or end because of the curvature of the egg?!** A: We wouldn't recommend the self-inking date stamps for stamping onto eggs, one to be used with a separate ink pad is much better. Very clear results on paper. I bought this for stamping eggs. Because of the shape of the egg, the self inking action doesn't actually work. I have to pull the end bit so the date rotate to the top, then stamp the date on to the egg when all the while keeping the stamp still. I also roll the stamp from side to side while stamping so that all the numbers go on the egg.
