Whats not to like!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great brush *by G***M on 17 April 2014* Had this about 3 months. Hasn't lost any bristles yet. Lovely and soft, yet produces a great lather. Plastic stand is a bit tacky looking, but does allow the brush to drip dry nicely. Will definitely buy again when it finally expires. However, on current performance, that looks like being a very long time in the future. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Revised Review a year on - actually its aged well, or I have changed ;-) *by M***S on 5 June 2014* Nov 2015I didnt use this for a year - was using a simpson duke and chubby 2 and gave this a whirl a month or back and actually its a lot better that I first thought. I think use and aging has soften the bristles and Ive got use to a splayed head now - actually I rather like it as you can massage the face.I initially gave it a 3 - Id give it 4.5 now.SimonHiI bought this on the back of the great reviews and the fact that I have the DE89 razor which is fantastic. I have and compared it to the Β£3.20 Wilkinson Sword brush.First off - its pretty (barring straggly curly hairs) and the size is good. Stand is plastic but fine and good to get one at this price. However the brush Im not so impressed with - two main issues - you can't control it and too many prickly bristles - but it is a very good lathering brush.Ability to ControlThe brush is soft in the stems of the hair and there are a lot of them - so you can't get good control - its more like a big sloppy soapy brush - you cant make a tip out of the brush ie its permanently splayed wide - also I found the bristles splay out curly at the base and look a little ugly wet or dry - not that it matters its a natural product. The wilkinson you can smooth in to a point when required get into the tight spots around your noise and ear - at other times push it a little and it opens up to give you the big sloppy soapy brush effect - ie it does both. Note: A big sloppy brush effect - means your noise and ears will all get covered in soap so you need to wipe it off to shave safely. However - the EJ does lather much better - especially in the bowl - the wilkinison needs working up in the bowl and then the face.Prickly BristlesThe bristles are prickly on both brushes - but the EJ has a lot more and they are cut to all come in contact with your face - they are different types of brush - the EJ is better for lathering - but not so good (for me anyway) when on the face due to the lack of control a bigger head gives - it also means a lot more prickly ends in contact with your skin. This was the major point - the EJ brush is uncomfortable for me to use - I tried pre soaking with warm water, different brush techniques - less water on the brush.. etc... I think it comes down to the shape of the brush - with a big thick head cut to expose the ends - you will only get the tips. With a slightly thinner brush - you will get strokes from the side of the brush not just the tips, which are much smoother and it gives more control - bit like a paint brush - hope that makes sense.I did call Edwin Jagger directly and on their request sent them some pics to check my brush was ok. They say it looks fine even said it was a good one and gave me some tips on using the brush i.e. shake execess water off let it dry - brush strokes, etc.. They sent me a long email and I can't fault them. Thats was about a month ago and Ive taken their advise and Im afraid - same issues as above.At Β£37 I will keep it as a comparison for my next brush - but overall I don't really like it - Ive given the brush 3 stars - For the record - Id give the service from EJ a 5 - I don't write reviews to often - but wanted to share this - others love this brush so consider that - but hope my review can add a few insights from a different perspective to help you make the right decision for you. For Β£37 for badger hair - EJ are doing a good job - just the design doesn't work for me - I think there is a middle ground between the two brushes and thats what I will look for next.
