From the manufacturer Clairefontaine Stationery, Art & Crafts for School, Office & Home Paper production is a long tradition for the Meurthe Valley, since the creation of the first paper mills in the 16th century. It is in this convenient environment that Papeteries de Clairefontaine began production in 1858. Taking advantage of the rags supplied by the local textile industry, Clairefontaine will become one of the most important factories in the region in a few years. I have been a fan of Rhodia paper for a while, and the paper itself is great for use with almost any pen. It works brilliantly for fountain pens and minimal bleed through, and shows of properties like shade and sheen in some inks. Writing on the paper is gloriously smooth and pleasant. I like spiral books because they can lay flat, and this is no exception. I have deducted a star because the cover arrived with scuffing on it. If you can live without a pristine cover, then these have some of the nicest paper out there.
