The old one has been dropped, dragged, placed in sand, water, and a whole slew of other things, and it works great. This new one from a different brand looks exactly the same as the old one - except the new one is slightly smaller (which may mean it's a S or M instead of L). It's very easy to use. It has a strong lock. The quick lock button is very tactile and gets a very good bite. The leash is reflective.
