Don’t need it to be remote controlled.** A: You will need something because with 6 x AAA batteries in the trains can go too fast - this happened with the Winter Train set we have, but may be less of an issue with other sets. If it does, options are using a couple of dead / dummy batteries or the remote control unit that allows you to control speed.
