Cheers!** A: Hello, The EasiYo yogurt maker is designed for use with EasiYo sachets, however I believe there iare forums etc on the www that may cover your subject. **Q: is this suitable for making kefir?** A: Technically you could use the pot to make kefir if you didn't use the lid but covered with a cloth. But what is the point. Just go to a local shop, buy a 1/2 litre jar and use that instead. **Q: How much does the yogurt canister hold? 1 lite or pint? It does not say on advert. I've held off reviewing until I had made my own yoghurt in it :-)My first yoghurt maker: no electricity, not necessary - its a giant thermos really HUGE - in the pic the smaller jar is a 1L pot of yog !DESIGN Lovely retro sleek design, outer case, lid and one internal thingy to rest the large yoghurt pot on. Simples. No washing up, just dry.YOGHURT- came with one packet Easiyo greek yoghurt mix which is basically powdered milk and active yoghurt culture. I made it up and its DELICIOUS ! However, you need to consider that a packet of this (one came free with my order) is £3.99 which doesnt compare brilliantly with bought low cost non live yoghurt.....HOWEVER after researching on the interweb I discovered a fool-proof way of making yoghurt with no risk or weirdness (gloopy, grainy, non set yog). Buy one packet of easiyog yoghurt mix (lots of choices of flavour and style of yoghurt), open the packet and add 2-4 Tablespoons of mix to one L of long life skimmed, semi or full cream milk at room temperature. Keep rest in aircright jar. Complete as per instructions: fill thermos with boiling water up to mark and pop the yoghurt jar in and wait until breakfast - YUM YUM. I've settled on 4 T's for the reasonably thick consistency I like on my breakfast. One packet I reckon will make at least 5L of live yoghurt. If you use a flavoured one, like Mango for instance, there is a subtle, nice flavour of mango. This is a huge hit with me, I really love the design, the ease, the cost effectiveness and overall the taste of this lovely live yoghurt. BARGAIN ! But not if you rely on the packet mixes. There is some reason why UHT milk works best (saves boiling then cooling milk apparently) so I just stock up on UHT milk when out shopping so I've always got some for the next batch. Yoghurt keeps in fridge at least a week which is how long 1L lasts me for all breakfasts, and occasional use in curries and raitas. RESULT ! Did I say I love it ?
