The soil itself looks nutritious (very fibrous and dense), is a dark brown colour and seems really versatile so I'll use it for seedlings and bulbs in the autumn. As instructed, I poured warm water over the brick and it soon swelled up, allowing me to scrape off damp potting soil - a very easy process. Not sure about insect resistance but so far my trees are doing well and water soaks in well when I water them. Is this soil suitable?** A: I have planted some plants (that came with their own soil) inside a bed of this soil. Plants planted in this way are doing fine.However, I put some seed in a pot with solely this soil, and I have not seen any growth for weeks on end (despite great condition of water+sun)And I have put some seeds in a pot with normal soil, the seeds in normal soil have grown well in the same time frame in the same conditions.I should amend my review as I am suspecting that this soil does not work. **Q: can this be used for Monstera deliciosa?** A: Yes I’m pretty sure it could be used for a Swiss cheese plant. I’m growing a peace lily and it’s doing well. I would suggest keeping a watch on watering as this compost drys out quickly **Q: Can you put seeds straight in it** A: This is dry compact compost and so water has to be poured into bag which opens upto 10 litre size then it expands.
