I don't know if the deeper colour means it has more minerals but it is worth buying a grinder and using this salt only.I had a problem with receding gums and no matter what I did, I could not halt it. My dentist explained some peoples gums retreat this way from plaque. But I was spending 25 minutes at a time brushing, flossing, mouthwash, interdental brushes, compact tuft brush - nothing could keep my mouth clean enough to please my fussy gums!Then I combined oil pulling with brushing with a mugful of warm water with a tablespoon of this salt in...... and the gums are coming back down and enclosing the teeth! I also started drinking several glasses of squash a day with a generous pinch of this salt in and it has helped ease my joint pain. Using this salt will really let you know just how messed with the regular white table salt that most people use is.Just a note about oil pulling if you are going to do it; watch the clock carefully. At 20 minutes the plaque will start to break down, but 20 minutes is also when the bacteria trapped in the oil will start to be reabsorbed by your mouth. I don't have time to do it every day so usually do it 2-3 times a week at night, doing it 2-3 times each session, just spitting the oil into a bin every 20 minutes.
