Review: exceptional value for money - Firstly let me start by saying i am pleasantly surprised. the image is bright and sharp with hardly any haze on the outer edges. i bought these for star gazing and will try them out tonight, however on testing it on an overcast frosty morning, i could clearly see detail in the trees on the furthest visible tree tops and noticed more birds than i ever new were actually out and about. the icy rooftops looked incredibly detailed and i must say i am blown away. i did not expect this level of clarity for the money. the furthest visible leafless tree tops had a very slight green fringe coming off the wood, however i cant be sure if its moss of a slight bit of aberration, it was so faint i doubt it would put off any bird watcher. i will give further feedback once i have been out star gazing to confirm if this is evident. build quality is more than expectable and much lighter than i thought they would be, but still has a good weight. the strap, carry case and lens caps are basic but one comes to expect it for the money, in no way does it effect its performance. i will more than likely invest in a better strap and tripod adaptor. it does look like the lens caps can be easily lost so take care. all and all i will use these for many years to come and doubt i would need another pair to replace these i give it 5 stars as i feel it is exceptional value for money at this price range with a nice crisp image Update.. have taken it out star gazing and could not be happier with my purchase, the orion constellation showed many hidden objects with the famous nebula as a fuzzy patch. jupiter looked like a big star and i could clearly see 3 of its moons. love it and can only highly recommend it. best value and performance in this price range
Review: Fantastic!! - Being a complete novice, I did some research and originally ordered two pairs of Olympus 8x40 DPSI binoculars. When they came, the prism was offset and the inter-pupillary distance was too wide for my eyes so could not get a single focus. Item returned (see Olympus review). I then ordered two pairs of Celestron 10x50 binoculars (based on the reviews and price). I learnt about the technology and these had a larger magnification with a wider aperture allowing for more light to enter, so viewing dimmer objects, These also promised a narrower field of view. Eagerly awaited (as setting off in couple of days), they arrived. We followed the easy instructions to set up the separate eye pieces and used coloured string to identify each set per person (if same person using, this does not then have to be re-set). Then we used them on the garden and liked them. The focus ring is also easier to move than the Olympus. Well did they work?? Yes! The first animal viewed was a male wild tiger whilst on safari in India! What a view (difficult to see with the naked eye in long grass) but we could see his teeth and detail very clearly. Fantastic!! We also used the binoculars on other animals and could see feathers and talons on owls and large birds of prey etc. Amazing detail. Our guides also borrowed these (even though we were at back) to try to locate animals. They chose these over the other people's. Need I say more! The only downside - is the strap could be wider, but I put the strap over my camera one so the weight was distributed. This can easily be remedied by purchasing a wider strap. Both myself and my husband didn't know anything about binoculars until I did a bit of research, but would thoroughly recommend these to all. Well worth it (and bonus as cheaper too).

## Questions & Answers

**Q: are these ok for spectacle wearers**
A: The eye relief is only 12mm so, even with the eye-cups folded down, you will not be able to see the entire field of view with spectacles.

**Q: Can the celestron up close or up close G2 be mounted on a tripod, if they can what tripod is required**
A: Yes they can be mounted on a tripod. Its very easy to do. I would recommend the metal 90degree bracket ro attach them to a tripod rather than the plastic one. As for the tripod, I bought a £22 from Asda which is fine. Obviously the better quality the more sturdy they will be.

**Q: Does this one have porro prism or roof prism? description says roof all the time.**
A: To be honest I don’t know the difference or meaning between Porro/Roof prism but what I do know is: I have got the porro type & are very good, easy to carry around. Excellent for site seeing & bird watching

**Q: Would these be a little too heavy for an 8 year old? I'm undecided between these and what seems to be a stock recommendation of the 7x50's.**
A: I would say in all honesty that they would be borderline, but I think the 7 x 50s would not be much different...I would say 8 x 40s would be better. The magnification would not be too different and the light gathering a little reduced. However the smaller size and weight difference would make them very usable for an 8 year old.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great at all times of the day
*by P***M on 7 August 2016*

Good quality binoculars, rubberised coating making sure they will not slip out of your hands if they are wet and not too heavy. Neck strap is a little poor, quite narrow which can be uncomfortable on the neck but others can be bought to replace it. Caps are rubber and stay on the binoculars and don't fall off and it comes with an adequate case. Using the binoculars is a joy, great quality optics letting in lots of light for whatever time of day you use them. Used in conjunction with a tripod (and a bracket which is not included) these are great for looking at the stars. Good value for money and quality optics, only let down by the uncomfortable strap.
