This tool is mainly for stripping 1.5mm and 2.5mm Twin and Earth electrical cabling (Lighting and Electrical socket circuits). It can be used for other types of electrical cable, but not for Coax or Cat5e/6 type cables. Nor will it work with armoured cabling. On the assumption you want to attach an RJ45 plug to a Cat5e cable, you would need a Cat5e/6 Crimping tool and at least one RJ45 plug. Bear in mind you cannot re-attach a plug, so once cut off it's wasted. The reason is because you can only crimp an RJ45 plug onto a cable once. So similarly, if you make a mistake in wiring with a new one (and you crimp) it's wasted, and you need another new one. Good job you can pick them up for as little as 15p. **Q: where can I get full instructions as I don't understand the adjusting screws, thanks.** A: the adjusting screw is to adjust the bite on the wire, if you have a thick wire you turn the screw to minus and for thin wire just turn the screw to plus , so that it can bite . these are a great bit of kit. **Q: Does it cut 10 awg? Also does it have wire cutter edge? Thanks!** A: Yes, there is a wire cutter (blade to anvil) which will cope with up to 2.5mm T&E cable including insulation, but that's about the limit in size. It will strip single wires up to about 10mm2. **Q: Does it mark insulation it grips or is it gentle enough not to do it?** A: Yes it does, but they are not that obvious or bad to me and I'm sure will fade over time.
