It’s fine on it’s own and has enough hold, or you can layer it with a styling cream (styling cream first, then the gel). Just make sure the styling cream you use is compatible with it if you decide to layer it. The best way to tell if a gel and a styling cream is compatible is to dispense a tiny amount in the palm of your hand (about 1p sized blob of each product) then mix them together with your finger. If they blend together smoothly, they’re compatible. If the styling cream goes into blobs/chunks (a bit like cottage cheese) then they’re not compatible.
