This valve will limit the water pressure going to your appliances to 40 PSI, if your pressure is already high, or if your fridge / filter is not used for periods of time (where the water pressure can rise over a period of non usage) then this valve is essential for protecting against leaks caused by overpressure. Valve has built in 1/4" push fittings, this connects easily in-line with your existing 1/4" water pipe going to the fridge water filter. The water pressure in our road increased for some reason and it caused the water and ice dispenser to drip..which meant solid lumps of ice rather than ice cubes. This little gizmo did the trick and we are back to no drips and dispensed ice cubes! Takes minutes to fit..cut the feed pipe with scissors and fits with push fits easily!
