It is indeed quite sturdy and the 'marbles' and other toys that roll down are all solid wood and not teeny tiny size. Perfect size, in fact, for a toddler's hand. I bought mine for my first grandchild's first birthday and it was in fact more than one month before that date, so I was able to see him play with it. Although he was under 1 year of age, he learned in the space of 24 hours, to place the ball and watch it roll down.
