**Q: How does it work-is there any instruction book?  We don't have one to use with it.**
A: I'm sorry I can't help because I gave it as a gift. I would contact the manufacturer.

**Q: how good is the sewing machine? does it ever work?**
A: The Sewing Machine did work, our actual problem was that it has only one speed....fast.  For such small clothing it is very difficult for a child to control the speed of the machine when it doesn't respond.  I ended up teaching my daughter on my sewing machine and she did just fine.  But, I will say the patterns and clothing material was really cute that came with the machine.  But I probably wouldn't buy it again.
