The telescopic mechanism is rock-solid and won't accidentally collapse, and the tube wall itself is very sturdy. I find it a little difficult to extend it, and once I do, I then find it a little difficult to lock. My friend had one of these (different brand) and his is easy to extend/lock so I know I am not doing it wrong.
