The kit includes everything you need to get started but the instructions were sooo complicated that I ended up watching an easy you tube tutorial to grasp the basics. Knitting is much easier than it looks in the instructions booklet! The pom poms tool was a hit with my daughter but knitting is still a bit too complex for her. I'd recommend this for slightly older kids.
