Review: Brilliant :-) - I tried this out yesterday and I'm very excited :-) I was told recently I needed to see a gum specialist because my gums are so bad that I will experience some tooth loss soon, my teeth are good but my gums are terrible apparently. I realise there is a chance that all dentist say this as it was a new dentist, but non the less it scared me into action and one of these babies seemed like a good idea, as some googling has made me suspect I have periodontal disease. I have to wait several months to see the specialist, so I thought id do everything I could in the mean time, so I'm been flossing with interdental brushes daily and cleaning with and electric toothbrush for the full two minutes at least morning and night and now this has been added to my new routine. I have to admit I was expecting it to be a ball ache, as although the review were good, people seem anoyed by its ease of use and how often you have to fill it up, but after a couple of goes and a small amount of spraying water all over the bathroom before I realised it was best to put it in your mouth before turning it on...I got the hang of it pretty quick.. You turn it on and then it has three modes to select from, which takes a minute to get used to as the water does run out quite quick, it took a bit of time to get used to what noise/feeling mean which mode, but after a few minutes id got the hang of it.. According to the instructions, the jet mode is for flossing between teeth, and the air in mode normal is for flushing the gum pockets for my suspected periodontal disease, as the jet it too strong, and then the air in soft mode is for massaging the gums from problem areas. This was all reassuring to me as no where online did it specifically say it was for periodontal pockets, although I did confuse myself researching all the different models etc.. All in all I'm very pleased with it, the water strength is perfect, strong enough to feel clean and clean between teeth and gums but not painful... the water does need filling up frequently, but as you have to be over the sink anyway it only takes a second to fil it up and the door to the tank is easily opened and closed as its just like a rubber stopper, so if the tap has been running a little bit warm its easy peasy to keep filling up.... Plus id rather it was small to make manoeuvring easier... I was playing with it for about 15 minutes last night to get the hang of it, and filled it up loads of times, but i did it as part of my morning schedule this morning and you only really need to fill it up maybe 3 or 4 times at a guess to floss the teeth and do the periodontal pockets and your done. I was very happy with this, as I suspected incorporating it into my daily routine would be a ball ache but its been easy peasy, long may it continue :-)
Review: 2 years review - Almost 2 years since I bought it, this water flosser stopped working. The pump was making a weird noise and nothing would jet out. I decided to give it another chance and deep cleaned the whole thing with 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water, including parts where you have to pop the case to access it. The water flosser is now fine and ready for another 2 years, I hope. Regarding the product, it’s a an ok water flosser with a rather small water reservoir that you need to fill twice to get a full teeth clean routine out of it. The battery last for about a month and charges overnight.

## Features

- EFFECTIVE DENTAL CARE: The water flosser cordless features achieves its cleaning effect by air-in water jet, which enriches the water with extra oxygen for interdental and gum care.
- 3 WATER PRESSURE SETTINGS: The electric flosser for teeth features a powerful water jet which removes bacteria and food, that effectively cleans places that brushing can't reach such as between teeth and around dental bridges, braces and crowns
- MULTIPLE MODES:the power flossers & irrigators also gently massages and cares for your gums; simply use the air in (soft) mode; a water flow containing fine bubbles of air will comfortably stimulate and massage the areas of concern on your gum
- CONVENIENT USE: The dental oral irrigator's water tank is removable; this means you can quite simply rinse it out with warm water and a gentle detergent – there's nothing to it; a full tank of water provides around 35 seconds of use between re-filling
- PERIDONTAL CARE: Gentle bubble water stream with a combination of micro-bubbles and soft water can directly clean the delicate periodontal pocket This item comes with a UK 2 Pin Plug compatible with bathroom shaving socket

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have had it for 18 months. the period between recharges has become shorter and now it fails to recharge. Can I change the battery?**
A: Same problem here, had mine for about the same time and now the battery just won't hold a charge and the water pressure isn't enough to floss properly.I managed to find a pdf of the manual on the Panasonic site (Google for EW1211), and once you figure it out it's quite easy to remove the insides to get at the batteries. Just follow the "disposal" instructions. I can only find 1 place that sells the batteries (http://www.buyspares.co.uk/product.pl?pid=2985391) and they cost just under £15 including shipping. I am going to take a risk and purchase a pair and hope that I can fit them back ok and make it work. It's that or a costly purchase of a replacement. Hope this helps.

**Q: can I use it with alcohol free mouthwash?**
A: 50/50 mouthwash/water is good

**Q: Can this oroduct be used with normal plug or just with the shaver one?**
A: My EW-1511 (purchased here) came with a 2-prong "shaver plug". Adapters (available separately) are available to use a standard 13A UK plug.

**Q: How long does it take to charge EW1211W?**
A: Charging is completed in about 15 hours.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An excellent addition to a dental regime
*by R***D on 28 March 2016*

This unit provides a cleansing, irrigating and massaging action that is much more thorough than simply swilling around using a beaker of water. It has three modes - 'jet' is a direct stream of water, and 'air' provides a pulsating massage action (soft or normal) which helps with cleaning and also massages and stimulates the gums. It holds about 130ml of water and 'jet' mode will see you refilling it two or three times. I keep mine set to 'normal' (air) mode. I had no problems at all getting to grips (literally) with the unit although it's a bit cumbersome. Best used over a wash basin. Simply purse your lips around the probe like using a drinking straw, then turn on. Move the probe gently around the mouth aiming at the gums and gumline, releasing water into the basin occasionally. It is not messy or difficult and you'll quickly get the hang of it. Use warm/ hot water direct from the tap to avoid cold shocks. This is more than adequate for a good rinse and I suspect mouthwashes etc might gum up the works eventually with sticky residues and you would need a gallon a month anyway. The probes rotate for easy access and are easy to swap. Two are supplied, colour coded. The unit is very well made and water-resistant with plenty of O-ring seals evident. The charger base uses a standard two-pin electric shaver-type plug that can recharge from a bathroom shaver outlet, or buy a common 13A shaver adaptor. The tank is removable but is quite stiff to slide out (those O-rings again). I recommend sometimes leaving it overnight with the filler open, to allow it to dry out, and/or remove the tank occasionally. I don't anticipate any problem with mould etc. but an occasional rinse through with mouthwash or maybe Miltons might help. It absolutely provides a thorough cleansing action and will also greatly help those who struggle with bridges or braces, but don't bash the probe around. It cannot directly replace a thorough flossing though, but helps maintain oral hygiene. The device contains two specialist Panasonic 1.2V Ni-MH batteries that can be replaced with care (search online for parts, eg espares). Instructions for disassembly are provided. They will probably be needed after several years of use or so. I can't really think of any drawbacks and it's so good a friend then bought one too. It has quickly become a key part of my regular dental routine.
