It would take somewhere very damp to corroded it and if it was that damp it would be unsuitable for any electrical equipment. I'm using it to carry sound from a haswell iMac to an analog 2.0 stereo system (remember them?) via an optical in DAC box. I was surprised how thick and well made the cable is and there are a few 90 degree bends on my 10 metre run - a radius of 5cm/2inches presents no problem in signal/quality loss that I can hear. I only have a cheap soundbar so if there's any sound issues on high end soundbars with Dolby Atmos etc, I can't say. I will point out though it wasn't a simple matter of plug and play. I had to manually switch some settings on my TV. I had to switch sound output from TV to Optical and then I changed the digital output from auto to PCM in expert sound settings (Samsung TV). After that the soundbar worked as expected. Not noticing any drop outs so far. Connections seem tight enough. It's not a thick cable but it's not too thin either.
