I can not see why it wouldn't work with another brand of jar, as long as the brand you mension works in the same way as the 2 part lid system used with Ball jars brand (the ones I use) BUT the mouth of the jar brand you use needs to fit a pickle pipe, of 84mm in diameter, precisely, so that the outer ring of jar lid will hold the pickle pipe securely in place. Only problem I've encountered is after initial fermentation when a partial vacuum sometimes forms. A few times I've had these sucked in to the extent that one side drops down below the rim so air does enter but nothing spoilt so far and I now switch to plastic lids within the month, for storage.
