I’ve been using them to prune rose bushes that grow out of reach and they are fine. If the weeds you are worried about are less hard-core than a rose bush it’ll mow through them like grass. Their cutting strength isn’t amazing, you need quite a lot of elbow grease to cut even medium bush branches. Telescoping function is easy to use — even if you are halfway up a bush and don’t want to lower the blades to telescope them, you can do it on the fly.
