Your lights go outside of it, shining in, and it serves as a diffuser for the light. If you want the light source to backlight the product you'd probably need to not use one of the included backdrops and just use the soft box by itself. The backdrops won't let much light through, but the soft box will. **Q: Do you sell replacement inner fabric pieces? and also do you sell bigger ones so when you shoot the pic you do not see the edges?** A: Hello! The inner fabric goes to the edges and it is nicely tailored It is secured with Velcro. - This is a BIG photo box. Think of a yardstick to picture width and height. Being so big though, when it comes to putting it away, you need a helper to return it to its carry bag size.As per other reviews of this product in various sizes, the backdrops are heavily creased upon opening. It's best to put them through a cool, synthetics wash before hand and then hang to dry before use. I was photographing rare and collectable bike frames that measured approximately 100-120cm in length. This meant that the frames needed to be positioned as far back in the tent as possible to avoid capturing the backdrop edges on either side. With the limited space I had in the living room, I could only get a light on either side and from behind but higher up. I'm going to take everything to work where I can use a function room and set up better.
