One cup of water and approx 1/4 cup of butter or margarine. Bring to a boil then drop in the packet of stovetop. I've used this for over 30 years and have developed some alternative ideas. I typically first Sauté half an onion in butter, then I add the water and the butter. And occasionally I'll add a small handful of finely chopped celery, then when at a boil add the packet. It really brings out the stovetop. Also... I use stovetop leftovers to mix with a tin of salmon and fry salmon croquettes. It's a fantastic option for dining. This question was about the Stovetop Chicken variety. With the Stovetop cornbread product I recall that it calls for a bit more water in the mix. For both products, once you've added the packet of Stovetop, then stir lightly to ensure it's wet throughout. Then let it sit for about 5 minutes, then whisk it up with a fork. Either serve as is, or you can stuff your chicken with it, or serve it on its own. Enjoy!
