So you could put some very hardy fish in there to produce waste as in there poo and pee which would create Ammonia for your bacteria to feed on or you could put a few flakes of food in the water which would break down and create Ammonia or thirdly you could put pure Ammonia in the water which the good bacteria would feed on. I normally just put a bit of food in the water its the best way of starting the cycle without the risk of harming any of your fish.
