Review: Dremel Multi Vice - This is a fantastic bit of kit. It's very handy the way you can quickly alter the direction of the jaws using the ball socket. Very user-friendly. It clamps easily to my 60mm thick bench. I particularly like the way I can attach my Dremel 4000 and 8200 to it. I find myself smiling every time I use it! As some people have mentioned, the materials the vice is made out of may be problematic for some uses. Around two thirds of the vice is plastic or nylon. Just try to imagine what you may need this for and bear in mind these limitations before purchasing and you are less likely to be disappointed. This is perfect for its intended use - hobby level jobs in conjunction with the Dremel range. If you want to cut large or chunky pieces of metal or wood with a saw I would suggest you look elsewhere. However, if you are a model maker I can't imagine a job this could not handle. Even a pro level model maker would benefit from having this in their workshop as an additional vice. I have three other vices, all for different tasks, so I suppose I am not the average reviewer here who may be looking for a tool that can handle any job. I certainly don't think this is a vice that can do that. Obviously, it would be better if made entirely of metal, but pay a great deal more and you can have that. This is a very versatile - and in my opinion well designed - vice that can handle a large array of tasks so long as you keep in mind the limitations. In other words, try not to over-tighten anything or stress the jaws with heavy objects. Just use common sense really. As an example: I had to cut through some 10mm bolts. Usually, I would have put the bolt in a vice and then use a Dremel to cut the bolt. With this vice and its materials in mind, it was a more sensible approach to attach the Dremel to the vice and hand hold the bolt against the cutting wheel. That way I didn't damage the jaws of the vice by trying to get a tight grip of a metal bolt in delicate rubber jaws. Two bolts were cut perfectly in about a minute with no damage to myself or the vice! Well worth the money and a pleasure to use. I also bought the workstation at the same time. Both are valued additions to my studio. If you are an artist or maker and use Dremels, these are both essential - and I reckon both are very reasonably priced.
Review: Multiple uses - A really useful tool for model making,as with dremel products it’s well made and is really versatile, I can use it as a holder for my dremel lite and use sanding and polishing attachment’s, the main vice has removable jaw protectors , I can angle it in any position so that is useful for a small work bench, I can have the work piece in front of me and when not in use I can simply swing it to one side when not in use , I can remove the vice from the stand and use it on the work bench, adjustment of the jaws is easy with a hand screw and quick move button, it holds to the bench with a hand screw and comes with a protective pad to prevent making marks on your table,All in all it’s good for light hobbies but if you need to be doing heavy work get a metal vice.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: does anyone know if this vice could be use on the base plate of the Dremel work station, allowing you to clamp the work piece in a convenient angle**
A: I don't reckon you could. It would sit too far over to one side and more importantly, would also obstruct the path of the workstation. Far better to get a proper drill press vice which can be fixed to the centre of the bottom plate without obstructing the path of the dremel. You may be able to work out some way to extend the drill press post and so give you a little more room to manoeuvre, but to be honest, I reckon it is unlikely you will get that to work. Best to buy the proper kit. They're not too expensive. Hope that helps.

**Q: What is the maximum thickness of bench/table the vice will fit**
A: About 60 mm. My bench is 45 mm and it fits a treat. It is a great vice for light work. Quickly adjustable in any direction and softy jaws to grip things well. But it is useless for any heavy work as the 'ball' which gives the adjustment cannot be fixed rigidly enough for things like cutting 20mm tube or steel and the workpiece moves about.I use it for model making, cutting small section brass, timber & plastic and it is ideal. You can move the work piece anyway you want to cut it or drill it or sand it in seconds.Hope that helps. John

**Q: Is this strong enough to hold cow thigh bones while i saw in half manually with a butcher saw? l130mm up to w100mm. i'll have other uses for it too.**
A: Highly unlikely. It is a light weight vice, I would not attempt it. In my opi in it should only be used for light hobby craft

**Q: How do you attach a Dremel Micro 8050 to this?**
A: Hi Radu,
I'm afraid you can;t secure a Dremel Micro to the multi-vise due to the Micros having the LED lighting in the nose.

The Multi-vise is compatible with all Dremel multi-tools except the Micro 8050 and the Stylo+ 2050.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A real grabber
*by H***S on 16 November 2011*

This is an excellent product; versatile and effective. It is ideal for occasional jobs, as it attaches quickly and securely, and the ball joint makes positioning things really easy. The capacity to hold large objects (about 180mm) is very useful, as most vices cannot do this. However, I feel that there is a bit too much plastic in its construction - for example, in the screw thread which closes the vice jaws - and this causes a slight lack of rigidity, and may wear quickly; of course, it does keep the cost down. I was also disappointed that the supplied adaptor did not fit my (old) Dremel tool, but this is a minor issue. If you have a Dremel, you need this!
