The album was recorded mainly in Los Angeles. Dave Sardy's production adds texture, detail, and crucially, some darkness to Catfish. I absolutely love Balcony which is this bands first album and have played it over and over and over again until i know almost every lyric off by heart. It has been my companion during numerous hospital stays and has keep me sane through many a long and sleepless night. So I couldn't wait for album number two to come out, I pre ordered it and literally waited in for the postman on the day of arrival, pouncing on it as it dropped through the letter box! It went straight into my CD player and It did not disappoint. It's superb. There's something very special about these guys and the music they write, it can be haunting, uplifting, mesmerising.....basically it's just bloody brilliant! Along with Balcony this album is now be on my iPod in readiness for future hospital visits. If you've not yet come across Catfish and the Bottlemen you're missing out. The Balcony (their debut album) is up there with the best albums ever made and usually bands can't live up to their first, but CATB do. The songs on this CD are phenomenal, the writing is phenomenal the sound is phenomenal. A total step up from their first album. You can always tell if someone's good if you have every song blasting out of your car with the windows down! If you only buy one CD/VINYL this year make sure it's these guys. I had heard Catfish and The Bottlemen being played on the Radio a lot and decided to buy both albums at the same time. I listened to them in order as if I had bought them at the time and The Ride is a great second album both lyrically and musically.
