I recently bought this old car, and I've been used to a Sony Bluetooth radio in my other car, which connects immediately when I switch on the ignition. To be honest, I don't often listen to the music stored on my phone, in the car - it's too tricky to mess around with the phone in its car mount, when driving.So I mostly use the bluetooth with the phone's Satnav app, so the directions come through the car's speakers.In this old BMW, I've tried to think of ways of playing the phone's sound output through the car's system, and I saw this cassette adaptor device, when I had a feeling of deja vu. I've been down this road before, with a previous old car. And I remembered then, that my solution was to buy a little FM transmitter thingey, which transmits the phone output to a radio frequency. You tune your radio to a quiet frequency first, then set the transmitter to that radio frequency. So I looked out my old FM transmitter, plugged it in, and success. A nice clear output to a preset frequency on one of my radio's buttons.I tried it out and it worked fine. However, there is a drawback. You first of all find a frequency on your car radio which is not occupied by a station, so no interference. Fine. But remember you're in a car, so you're travelling around. Therefore the quiet frequency you chose when you were sitting outside your house, may not be unoccupied / quiet when you drive into a different area. So, as I drove around, my phone's Satnav sound out was drowned out by encroaching channels. Damn. Back to the drawing board.So I went back to this cassette device, with few expectations. It's very cheap after all. I bought it and tried it out. Perfect. In fact, I'd forgotten how good the outputs from cassettes can be in a car. I regretted throwing away my stock of old music cassettes. It's true there is a tiny clicking sound which you can hear in the silences, but when anything is playing, I can't hear it. AND, a big plus, is the fact that this device doesn't need a power supply. So one less bulky power lead to be fed from that single cigarette lighter socket. And the lead from this device is so thin that it's pretty much invisible. Result.I like it so much, I've bought another one. Well, it's so cheap. And I recognise that, as a mechanical device, it won't last forever.So I'd recommend it to anyone, for the money. What's to lose? ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Surprised! *by C***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 November 2021* Actually better than I’d hoped for, I’ve a 05 Lexus that unless I remove the whole dash will never have a new stereo, so instead of costing thousands in labour I bought this to plug I go my iPad. I don’t think it’s the volume of a direct player but it’s good enough and better than nothing by far! All round, from my purchase, I would recommend for the price. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good for MP3 player but no good for music held on mobile phone *by M***T on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 December 2012* I have most of my music on my HTC Sensation and bought this to use in the car after Audi refused to provide any non-Apple after market phone connection. Worked fine for the first few minutes but then got that all-too-familiar 'beep..beeeep...beep' interference of a mobile phone when you're about to receive a message. It was as loud as the music and I got this intereference every 20 secs or so.
