Bought this for my tiny Italian percolator. It worked a charm - nice and sturdy. The outer circumference means it can sit astride a lot of large hobs but the spokes come in far enough that you can use it with small items. There are four grooves on the underside to slot it on the hob so that it will not slide around during use. When it's cool, I also use it as a trivet.

I’ve tried the cheap flame diffusers — they warp, they stink, they burn food. This one? Solid cast iron, enamelled, weighty in the hand, and it actually does the job. No hot spots, no buckling, just lovely even heat. This little enamelled slab of Italian genius turned my gas hob from a temperamental dragon into a calm Aga-like hearth. No more scorched pans, no more swearing at my poor hubby for destroying yet another invaluable Le Creuset. It’s heavy for its size (you could probably defend yourself with it if dinner goes badly), has proper notches so it doesn’t wobble about like a drunk flamingo, and a handle that saves you from playing “Guess how hot this is” with your fingertips. Does it make my food taste better? Maybe... Does it make me feel like a domestic goddess with superior cookware taste? Absolutely. Frankly, if this diffuser had a dating profile, I’d swipe right - and probably be better off 😂
