If you haven't got a manual for it, you can often find online manuals - most manufacturers do them, and often have a Helpline too. Only use what the manufacturers of the outboard engine tell you to use. If it says to use a GL5 semi syn oil then use it. But if it says to use a GL3 or more commonly a GL 4 only use those ones. There is a difference in how GL5 lubricates compared to a GL4. This is to do with the extreme pressure agents and sacrificial layers required on the gear surfaces. They have different additives.Use the wrong one and your gears will become toast more quickly than they should. **Q: Can this be used in a motorcycles final drive that specifies sae 80 gl4 hypoid oil ?** A: Yes, you can use this in any bike gearbox or final drive that specifies a GL4 gear oil of 80-90SAE spec.
