Description says it can be used with essential oils, but enclosed instructions say it can't! So, can it??** A: I believe you can but only for three hours at a time. **Q: can wax melts be used in this?** A: I would say no it takes ages to warm up and I do not think it reaches a temperature that would melt wax. It was bought for me and I am disappointed in it. **Q: I have tried one of the mist diffusers with lemon oil but get hardly any aroma from the mist. Are these any better? Do they actually scent a room?** A: These are definitely better than the ones that shoot water vapour up (which then simply ends up falling to the floor) Yes they scent the room...I drop essential oils into water and it works fine. So obviously I searched Amazon. Having read all the reviews I first selected the 600ml Aromatherapy Diffuser (and a bottle of Freshskin Beauty Lavender Essential Oil 50 ml). The diffuser was good looking, but after a few nights I really didn't want the humidifying effect.The oil was the best recommended reading the reviews so I knew that was good. So I felt I needed somehow just to use the oil. I read about dropping a few spots on the pillow, so tried that and it worked better than the diffuser. But still not ideal.I wanted something that would get a better release of the oil but not right near my head. So looked at burners, tealight candles and the like. But naked flames did not appeal to me. So I bought this burner. It arrived today and this evening I've tried it out. I think this is the best answer. It's on the bedside table and has filled the room with a good scent. It looks nice, and doesn't get too warm.
