Instructions do say that the vacuum will gradually decrease over time (3-10 days) and should be refreshed. Therefore this is an expected feature of this product and should not be counted against it. I can tell you now it does not work. Pressure is far better for clearing bubbles from resin. Saying that I've ended up using them to store other things. Problem now solved - open the packet, feed the cat, replace packet in the tupperware provided and take out the air with the little pump (also provided). No oxidation next time you open - satisfied cat, satisfied owner.
