A: Each reed has a hard plastic slip cover, but each one is not sealed in its own plastic wrapper. Once you open the box, all of the reeds are exposed to open air.

My son recently started clarinet lessons and these particular reeds were recommended by his music teacher. On comparing to others they were very competitively priced I felt and ordered a couple of packs - one for my husband to use and help my son along. Within two weeks one of the reeds has split - the ones my husband are using are fine so I'm wondering if my 9 year old has perhaps been a little heavy handed with it. On the whole though they seem very good quality and better than the one the school provided for him to use.
