My mom wears it in a longer length as a cross body fit, for safety during the day - in case she falls or needs to make an emergency call - before she got her "Life alert". It was a great economical alternative to the life alert - since she was not ready mentally or emotionally to admit that she might need a life alert. She saw some young people at the grocery store with cross-body cell phone holders and said that would be what she would want.
