Review: Works like a charm. LOUD! - About 2 years ago, I started a job that required me to be up at 2:00 A.M.. I am not a morning person in the slightest, and was looking for an alarm clock that is LOUD. This is absolutely what I was looking for and more. There is a dial that goes up to 10 for volume, and I think 2 is a sensible level for apartment living (still plenty loud!) The vibrating disk that is attatched to the clock is something I didn’t think existed, but it works beautifully, and can’t think of using anything else. I have it under my pillow, and you can feel it easily on the low setting. It comes with an emergency battery backup, but I’ve never been in a situation where I’ve lost power, so I can’t comment on that element of it. The only downside is some of the button combinations are a little unintuitive. The ability to test the alarm and adjust the time a snooze grants you is nice, but you need to hold down 2 buttons for what seems like ages for it to register. Most certainly not a deal breaker, but that is the only downside I can think of. The clock itself feels kinda cheap and flimsy, but I have dropped the whole unit on a hardwood floor multiple times without issue, so good on it for being a tough little unit.
Review: it's working! (most times) - I've never been a morning person, and worked mostly second and third shifts for 30+ years to accommodate my abnormal sleeping patterns. Now, as a retiree, trying to get on a more 'normal' schedule, and was missing an important 6:30 daily am phone call. This has worked for me where 2 regular alarms and and a clock radio all set for the same time, didn't. I think it might be the bed vibration (or my small dog scrambling to get off the bed) that helps most, because I don't think the alarm itself is so excessively loud~loud yes, but I think I could eventually learn to tune it out. I like that so far it stays on until you turn it off. One alarm that I had (and gave away) turned itself off after 30 seconds! Not good. Bigger footprint than I've known, but can tell the time without glasses. Would absolutely love to find this caliber of alarm with a nap function (don't even hear my cell phone alarm). Overall, should have purchased this years ago. Update: 11-10-14 well, I have learned to tune it out...came back looking for another possible solution, and decided first to try using the dual alarm function...set about 15 minutes apart. I still think not so excessively loud and it is the vibration that really wakes me up. I agree with other reviewers, the forward only function in setting times is a hassle, and almost a deal breaker when it comes to replacing this, and I will, not that confident that it made to be a rare purchase. Would knock it down a star rate if I could. Yeah, a little disappointed, and if anyone has any other replacement recommendations, please feel free.

**Q: How long is the cord to the bed shaker?**
A: It's pretty long. It wouldn't, however, go across the room if you wanted to put your alarm clock on a dresser instead of beside the bed. I put the shaker under my pillow not the mattress. Under the mattress it wasn't strong enough of a vibration to wake me.

**Q: I purchased two of these alarm clocks, one for each house, but misplaced the power/charge cord, rendering it unusable! How can I purchase another one?**
A: Here are 3 suggestions you may find helpful. 1. Temporarily use a standard 9 volt battery until you get the new cord. 2. Radio Shack may have a cord with the attached 9 volt power output. It is more than just a cord. It comes with a 9 volt transformer which is permanently attached. Suggest taking the one you have to match it at Radio Shack. 3. Contact the manufacturer, Sonic Alert, and order the part. (248-577-5400)

About 2 years ago, I started a job that required me to be up at 2:00 A.M.. I am not a morning person in the slightest, and was looking for an alarm clock that is LOUD. This is absolutely what I was looking for and more. There is a dial that goes up to 10 for volume, and I think 2 is a sensible level for apartment living (still plenty loud!) The vibrating disk that is attatched to the clock is something I didn’t think existed, but it works beautifully, and can’t think of using anything else. I have it under my pillow, and you can feel it easily on the low setting. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Strong Loud "GET u up" alarm clock

I have sleep apnea and this wakes me up everytime. Whether I wake up by audio or vibration. I originally purchase a older model over 10 years ago and the vibration component broke. I was so happy with the old model that I decided to stick with the same brand. The only thing that I would improve on is having a wider base so the clock would not be accidentally knocked over. Also to have a feature where to rewind or go backwards with the clock. For example if you are setting the alarm to go off at 3:15am and you go to 3:20am you have to go all the way around to pm then back to am. you can not go back from 3:20 to 3:15am.Update: I have had this clock for a few months now and this is an update from original post. I really like this alarm clock because the alarm volume is much louder than the sonic alert that I originally bought about 10 years ago. I also set my I phone alarm that is loud but the sonic alert is 10 times louder than the I phone alarm. I like the vibration of this alarm compared to the sonic from 10 years ago. This alarm has a louder vibration that i can feel better through my sheets. The alarm clock look fits nicely with the rest of my bedroom decor. The clock does not look like a piece of "machinery" On other alarm clocks I will wake up and ask myself, "Is that the alarm going off?", but with this sonic alarm clock instantly and say, "Ok it's time to get up." verses other alarm clocks its like, "ok i think my alarm clock went off but i'm still sleepy so i'm going back to sleep."
