Review: Its a good product. - I’m writing this review mainly to try dilute all the low star reviews from the brain dead mouth breathers who thought they were buying an £800 shed with all the trimmings for £80. This is quite obviously a set of brackets. It’s says so several times in the advertising. So my review on the brackets. They work well. They do as they are supposed to. Obviously you need some basic diy skills to build a shed. So if you have the skills you can turn this kit into a nice shed. The instructions are pretty poor. But as mentioned you need some skill. Trying to build a shed from scratch with no skills is a pretty bad idea anyway. So if you need to rely on instructions. This probably isn’t the project for you. I swapped my brackets around to alter the angles of my roof. I didn’t want it too high. I built mine 8ft by 8ft as this made more sense to me as the sheet wood for the base and roof comes in 8ft by 4ft sheets. It’s also 8ft tall in the centre. I made my door 6ft by 3ft. Because I didn’t want to have to duck to get in the shed. I priced up full sheds and a 7ft by 7ft in the same design as mine started at £550 but built out of 1” square frame, and very thin cladding. It had lots of bad reviews regarding the quality too. The closest I could find was a 8ft by 7ft that was quite sturdy. But not as big, and the material was still thinner. That was £1200. My shed came in at £600 in total. Including all the timber, the brackets, roof felt, screws, hinges, bolts and the drainage. All timber came from a local wood yard. The drainage, screws and roof felt from wicks. So about half the price of the closest I could find to compare. I’m very happy with the results and the kit. I just need to finish the rest of the garden to match the shed. But i will say, the directions are very easy. You will be spending and additional 400-600 on wood. The end result for me was great. I've bought the full shed kits in the past. The wood is cheap, and not worth the money. If your a do it yourselfer, this is a good beginners kit. I made coop of chicken coops with mine **Q: How many 2x4s, 4x4s and 4x8 plywood sheets are needed? for the basic 7ft by 8ft shed.** A: For LUMBER only, the following prices are an average from Home Depot & Lowe’s: 7ft x 8ft barn style = $420 8ft x 14ft barn style = $740 10ft x 22ft barn style = $1120 You’d still need pier blocks/footings, siding, roofing, trim, and hardware. So factor in another $240-$400 for those items. **Q: Can the kits be expanded to accomodate a shed twelve feet by twenty feet?** A: I found the metal gussets barely adequate for a 10ft wide shed. And the metal parts to hold the studs were not at all adequate - the side walls wanted to bow once the roof was on, so had to toe nail them also. The gussets at the top of the side walls direct the weight with more of a lateral component then vertical, and the side walls studs do not nail directly into the 2x4 at the top which is at an angle in the gusset there. That angle also makes putting inside walls up a hassle - the metal gussets slant across the top of the inside wall at an angle which is different from the angle of the 2x4's of the roof/ceiling, so you have to cut a notch for the gusset to extend through on the inside wall and the inside ceiling, and then figure a way to cover that metal gusset. If you look carefully at the image you'll see what I mean. If you are not going to have an inside wall or ceiling, not an issue. **Q: Approximately how much will you spent on building materials?** A: That will depend heavily on the size of the structure you plan on building, the quality of materials you select, and the cost of lumber/roofing supplies in your area. I recommend taking some time to price out different options - go to the hardware store/lumber yard and run the numbers. You can probably expect to pay an additional $400 to $700 on the building materials. Less if it is a small shed with economy materials or if you already have some of the lumber.
