Surprisingly enough, I bought a 1015A 0.5 mm Pentel from Amazon prime themselves (expecting the one from the photo) and they sent me the 1015 model with the hinges. While some may say it is the difference between the Japanese model and the American model, I beg to differ; after reviewing multiple videos on youtube on the graphgear 1000 I noticed that most of the videos containing just the 1015 were before 2012.
