Great British made dehumidifier.
This ebac 3850e dehumidifier is really good , we were having condensation issues at our 3 bedroom midterraced house, and the problem was getting worse every year , so I start looking for solutions online , and came across a video on youtube where an expert was explaining the causes and most importantly "remedies" for misty windows and condensation problems here in Britain. So I started searching for a good dehumidifier , after a lot of online searching for all sorts of makes and models of dehumidifiers came across this particular make. And decided to get this one for two reason although I think its slightly overpriced, anyways bought this one for two reasons No1: Its made in England , so I'm supporting local manufacturing , No:2 It had a lot of positive reviews , so that's why I bought it on amazon yesterday 07/11/16 and man it's a wonderfull little machine, courrier brought it yesterday around 14:00, pulled it out of box, plugged it in and bang , it works a treat. Left it running for two hours on full speed , then I paused it to check if it had collected any water, and to my surprise within the first two hours it collected enough water from our indoor atmosphere to fill my " 1 pint glass" pretty amazing aye?😲, anyways turned it back on left it running for seven hours and it collected roughly about 2 litres of water , emptied it , switched it back on for about 11 hours full throttle and it collected another 2 and a half litres of water, thats about 5 litres of water in first 22 hours on full speed ok . And now I set it up on "smart" setting and there you go .So the bottom line is , it works so get it if you want one , how reliable? I don't know because I had it for only 24 hours now , but it has a 2 years manufacturer guarantee , so who gives a toss ??? 🤓

A reliable workhorse, powerful yet not too noisy.
Has worked like a dream since we bought it in 2016. It's amazing how much water it pulls out of the air/house from smart mode.A 4bed semi in NW England; placed in empty front main bedroom. On first use in Oct 2016 was on for two days straight (needed emptying three times), then it went into standby and only came on occasionally through the week. Kept us moisture free the whole winter. Now a year later, it's on its second winter with us. House heats up more quickly with moisture gone and strips of condensation at bottom of windows all over the house are largely eradicated, even with this static upstairs. This autumn we've started using the laundry drying mode and closing it in a room with damp washing. Again, works a treat.Hard to find any negative aspects. Recessed fingerholes for carrying are a bit shallow. Noise wise you could sleep with it on, but you're definately going to hear it if you're in the same room. It works so well we have to empty it every two days, but it has a cutout and warning light. Obv you could plumb it in to a drain too.Track prices as we got a good Amazon deal and only paid about £145 including delivery.MAY 2020 UPDATE: Its been through its fourth winter with us and now sits on the first floor landing. It draws water from over the house as ever and needs emptying roughly once a week.It remains a reliable workhorse that does what it's meant to, well. Four winters and counting.OCT 2023 UPDATE: Heading into its 7th winter with us and still working as well as it ever did. The first run of the season always sees it stay on for three or four days straight (obvs being emptied regularly), then it goes into standby until moisture levels rise. We've used it on higher mode to dry clothes inside too. Would definitely buy Ebac again.

Pros- 1-the unit is easily movable even though it weighs 13kg it’s not that ...
I’ve had this unit a week now. Reason for purchase- I had a leaking chimney which has now been removed and so had some dampness in the walls which had cause humidity levels to remain high for over a year since it’s removal. I would find my windows constantly covered in condensation which when touched would cascade down my window and instantly reappear once wiped so a vicious circle. Also as I would walk upstairs the cold and damp air would be startlingly cold to the point bed linen would always feel damp and mould spores were appearing under windows sills in other rooms causing my children to cough constantly! The heating would never warm upstairs and yes my windows would be open during the day in the hope the dampness would circulate out of the windows. My home 3 storey, 3 bedroom, 3 living rooms, 2 bathrooms and a utility room with large kitchen. This machine is a godsend!!!! It has stopped the damp cold feeling as you enter upstairs and the musty smell is virtually gone. I left the unit on full blast in the hallway with the doors open for 3-4 days and nights. Machine was running for 3 hours and the 2l bucket was almost full. I empty it every morning and every afternoon now it’s on eco (auto) mode now and still it’s running constantly as it’s picking up in its sensors that the humidity level is still to high.Pros-1-the unit is easily movable even though it weighs 13kg it’s not that heavy.2- it actually works!3- self instructed once placed on auto mode4-switches off if water bucket is too full5- as far as I can tell it’s not using that much electricity6- long enough cable to reach around a chest of draws and a bit more.7-easy to remove the bucket no clips or manoeuvring once you get the jist it removes at an outward angle.8-bucket has a built in handle at the top for easy carrying to the sink to emptyCons1- bucket is not completely sealed around the top. Seems mine has been half glued in the seam before it’s been screwed together and the lip doesn’t quite meet on one edge (hope it doesn’t drip when bucket is full) I’m pretty sure amazon would help if that is the case.2- on full power the unit is quite loud like a vending machine ( noise can be quite high pitched) mixed with a summer fan on full blast.3- eco mode is similar to full mode just a little quieter as you can’t hear the fan but the buzzing/high pitched humm is still there.4- the digital lights on the front are bright when the lights are off and your trying to go to sleep even when it’s in the hallway it lights it up bright blue. Post it note would probably sort that tho or blue tack.5- when the bucket is removed the water that’s collected inside the unit will still dribble in bursts so you have to be quick to empty or you will find you have a small puddle to contend with.6- you can’t see inside the bucket so your unable to know if you need to empty it before going to bed or going out for the day without removing the bucket and feeling how heavy it feels.A level window would be a great feature in myOpinion.7- the door to get to the bucket feels flimsy so I’m hoping it lasts the duration only the unit as spares and repairs don’t seem cheap on their catalogue.8- additional features like castors or hoses are additional items chargeable £14.99 for wheels and £20 for filters is steep in my opinion considering your paying £199 for the unit in the first place.9- the unit blows out cold air not hot as one review claimed. On full it blows out cold air and it’s slightly warmer that cold on eco mode so don’t believe it’s a heater in combination to the unit. All in all I’m glad I made the purchase, I contacted amazon before purchasing and they assured me they would act as guarantors for the unit for at least a year as it was dispatched and supplied by amazon and bearing in mind their customer service in the past for me it was a deal clincher for me.It’s a unit that works! Has worked! And is currently still working hard to rid my home of excess water through the winter.
