However, i've been using mine to house a green-winged macaw, the cage is 3 years old now and showing lots of faults, i.e. none of the food bowl holders work properly, the door latches have had to be riveted back on and some of the bars have been bent and some have broken on the weld points.It will not be long before the cage will need replacing and i do not think a 3-4 year life span is acceptable, but I'd don't know of anything better on the market.The cage is a great size and the middle removable partition is very useful, but he quality is disappointing. **Q: are the bars stromg enough for a blue and gold macaw** A: the full cage is very strong and sturdy.it is delivered on 3 pallets to give you an idea of strengh and weight of material used **Q: What is the thickness of the bars please.** A: Thick Enuf .
