Unless it was a very thick carrot then the hood to protect your fingers does not hold the carrot it very well and feels very unstable when slicing, I think that contributes to the varying quality of the slices of carrots. Will I use it again...NO. I am on the lookout for a better quality one. Even so, it was a total waste of money. The Julien blades are tiny, producing bits of vegetables around the same size as my ordinary grater. The slicer blade failed to cut onions into rings and simply mangled them. The gripper for holding the vegetable just doesn't grip and, to cap a depressing experience, the round end of the gripper fell off when I washed it! Oh, and the 'bonus' vegetable peeler which came with it produces potato peel around 2mm thick. I can do better with a sharp knife.
