## Description

Ladybower Pre Formed Heavy Duty Garden & Wildlife Starter Pond (77Cm x 70Cm): desertcart.co.uk: Garden

Review: Perfect for our needs - We've been mulling over putting in a pond for some time, as we have frogs already in the garden and see the occasional damselfly and dragonfly passing straight through. There's not much space though, and we didn't want a major job of installation. Things came to a head last week when we spotted a damselfly on the grass. Decision made at last! We went straight to desertcart and found this one that appeared to be good, and with good reviews. Sent for it and it arrived on Prime the next day. I intended to install it the following day but wanted to test how solid the ground was where it was to be located. Soil turned out to be fine enough to try the pond in a hole, for sizing. Cut to the chase and I ended up installing it, a process that took about an hour - the majority of that was in checking it was level in all directions. Decided to leave filling it until the following day. The next morning I went to review it, and there was already a small frog sitting on the edge with a "where's the water?" look about him. We filled the pond from our rainwater butt, which took 6 watering cans full. A quick trip to the nearest aquatics shop and some judicious transplanting of suitable plants already in the garden and job is done. Bought a fountain from desertcart too, though its performance isn't exactly mindblowing, even when in full sun. We may have to move to Dubai to get a full performance... Overall, it is a really good little pond. Easy to install and perfect where a larger one is not a viable prospect. From the decision to having a working pond was a leisurely day-and-a-half. Recommended.
Review: A great pond, not too big, perfect for your own garden Kermit - I bought this because my six year old son found two frogs in our back garden under the shed. Convinced that they were going to be homeless (although they had lived perfectly well for the last three years we had been there, and I am assured by the neighbours for some years before), he worked up his behaviour points to earn enough to buy this pond. We didn't want a big pond or deep one, the people who built our house seemed to have left shingle beneath 6 inches of the garden, so digging anything too deep is a struggle, but this one was a perfect size. I did some research online in terms of pond, and this seemed to have everything that people (frogs) might want. It has exit and entrance levels, and is deep enough for them to hide from predators, but not too deep that children could fall in - my son has already stepped in it by mistake after falling for a football. The frogs didn't take long to settle in to the new home and they now live their perfectly happy.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Am looking at this to make a small pond in my cobbled yarden. Has anyone used this sat on the floor, rather than dug into the ground?**
A: I wouldn’t recommend using this freestanding. It’s fairly strong but is designed to be supported by the ground around it.

**Q: I would like this product for the toads and frogs in the garden - what else do I need to get it up and running.**
A: I bought this for my daughter and grandson, she just dug a hole placed the pond in and filled in around with the soil. She then collected dead wooden logs , branches, stones etc and arranged them around the pond making sure there was places where the frogs etc can climb out ie a branch in the water or big stone, she managed to get frog spawn and some pond water which she topped up with tap water. Then she got some plants to put in the bottom of the pond like you would use in a cold water aquarium. She landscaped the rest of the soil around about and put in some plants it looks great all the spawn hatched and she has added a goldfish in July. This was a spring/ easter project and she has got resident frogs now. Hope this helps also the internet will give you loads of information on making a frog and nature pond Ann

**Q: Can you find any ponds smaller than 77cm by 70cm (surface).**
A: You can use an old sink or baby bath or even a washing up bowl. Just make sure it has a way for animals to climb out

**Q: I have a family of hedgehogs in the garden, would they be able to climb out if they fell in?**
A: How lovely, a family of hedgehogs!! Yes I think they'd climb out as long as you keep water topped up so they can get on the ledges
