At first glance, £60 for a rubber mat seemed a little excessive... but after receiving it and using it for the past few months, I can safely safe it's worth every penny.The build quality is excellent. "American engineered" may sound a bit gimmicky, but I truly believe it - American products often seem 'sturdier', somehow. This is one of those products. It's large, thick and heavy enough to stay put on the ground. Previous reviewers had mentioned that theirs tend to slip around. I don't know if it's because I'm laying this on a carpet, or whether there have been improvements from Varidesk, but mine goes NOWHERE... it stays perfectly put.Even though it's heavy enough to stay in place, it's light enough for frequent manoeuvring. I tend to swap between standing and sitting quite often, so that usually means switching between an 'under' desk and 'out' of desk placement for the mat. It's easy to shift using one hand.Speaking of sitting, I also use this desk as a kind of foot rest when I'm seated. The material is comfortable and bouncy, and seems to take on the temperature of the room around it, so it's not like putting your feet on a cold surface.Wouldn't do any work without one of these under my feet! Worth every penny. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ does the job - nice and thick - slippery though *by J***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 March 2015* Very good - would recommend it - lost a star as what other reviewers said is (despite sounding very strange) true: it is coated with something that makes socks, shoes and even bare feet very slippery. It also makes the surface you put it on very slippery when you take it away (and it made the floor around it slippery where I had walked with socks/shoes). We have wood floors and laminate and I made the mistake of unpacking and trying it out at the bottom of the stairs, that spot turned into an ice rink - quite dangerous place for it (thorough cleaning fixed the problem). After 3 weeks this has worn off a bit so I wouldn't say its a long term issue, but for those who are a bit unsteady for whatever reason this could be very dangerous (unless you have carpet throughout). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really makes a big difference to standing at your desk ... *by T***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 September 2015* Really makes a big difference to standing at your desk - I would recommed it from that point of veiw.
