I tried crushing them up for him and mixing it with a bit of water too to make a mash and neither convinced him. At the time I was using different pellets, and then I tried this one on a whim because of the smaller size and it was a hit! He took to it instantly and still loves it now. My other lovie who I got from the same breeder (also on an all-seed diet prior) also has no problems with it whatsoever. Getting it off desertcart, the price fluctuates a bit but it's never unreasonable, especially with how expensive good quality pellets can be. My birds have wonderfully bright feathers and are both in great health, and of course diet would have a great impact on those two things. These pellets are a great size for lovebirds and I assume would be great for cocktiels as well. Id say initially he didnt eat that much but since these birds are very opportunistic eaters, he quickly adjusted to it. The food also smells like bubble gum so your room wont be smelling bad.
