Review: As many people have said great but flawed.. - In a nutshell I loved this mug. Good size and loved the beam down effect. However I would say after 3 months the transfer started cracking up. Now 8 months on the transfer is peeling off. No dishwasher, little warm water, has been cared for and still ended up like this. Very gutted. No reflection on seller purely the quality of the mug. If you get one enjoy it before it wears out.

**Q: Is this mug dishwasher safe?**
A: No, my mother in law put this in the dishwasher and ruined my mug.

**Q: Is it microwave safe?**
A: You  asked if they can put it in the microwave...
Here is what the "care instructions" on the bottom of the box say:
"Microwave Safe", "FDA approved" and "California Prop.65 compliant"
- IT SAYS it is OK, but YMMV. We use a hot water tap.

"Do NOT machine wash (i.e, don't put it in the dishwasher)."
"Do NOT soak for long periods of time."
"Do NOT use a scouring agent."
"Do gently wash with warm water and soap.

**Q: Has anyone owned over a period of time, will the surface scratch?**
A: Not a scratch, per se, but a little piece of the applique has flaked off after only 3 months and not excessively used (about 10 times).  I have also been very careful with the mug. It might have been a defect in the application process.

**Q: If the cup isn’t half full, do you only see half of the image change? 14oz is huge!**
A: Thank you for reaching out. The mug will change as the hot water fills the mug. If you fill the mug half-way, the mug will not change entirely. I hope this helps - please let us know if we can help with anything else.

I bought this mug for my father as he is also a big Trekkie, I used it quite a lot myself for tea and coffee. It works very well. Although, if your father is very forgetful when you warn them about 20 times not to put it in the dishwasher you'll end up with a lovely plain black mug instead...
