Review: Fantastic for its size... - Wouldn't work in the Albert Hall but perfect for practicing and small environments like folk clubs. be realistic and don't expect too much and it won't annoy the neighbours but this is probably the best out there for its size - it's dinky. You'll need rechargeable batteries. I use it to boost an acoustic bass at folk sessions. Review: Best portable bass amp, epic sound and battery life!! BUY ONE!!! - Probably one of the best little bass amps I’ve ever used. The two things I’ve taken away from using this amp that amazes me, are the sound quality and how long it lasts on 6 AA batteries. Honestly, the sound quality is amazing.. I have a fender rumble 100w .. it’s on par with that easily, it actually sounds like a bass should. I have another vox pathfinder amp, and you compare the sound quality with this little amp .. it’s so much better. The battery life is crazy, I still haven’t changed the batteries and I’ve literally been using it every week for hours on end .. it’s been about 4 months!!! Absolutely amazing. For the price, just buy it... it’s great for indoor us, and outdoor. My mate bought the guitar version and we’ve taken these outside and jammed, they’re definitely loud enough to busk too. Brilliant. Get one!!!! ## Features - Silent Practice & Home Recording FLY 3 also features Emulated Line Out, perfect for ‘silent’ practice or home recordings, keep your Blackstar tone no matter the volume. - Sub Control The Sub control sets the level of a harmonic generator. This produces an additional low frequency tone that is mixed in with the normal signal. It gives the perception of increased low-end girth and incredible bass from a mini amp. - Science in the Detail Countless hours were spent on the design of the cabinet to achieve a sonic performance not normally found in a mini amp. The housing is sealed and tuned to ensure optimum tonal response and the material used has been mathematically modelled to have the Young’s Modulus of wood. This retains the bass response usually associated with a wooden cabinet - Long Battery Life Under normal playing condition the FLY 3 Bass lasts for 55hrs of performance time on a single set of AA batteries. - EQ Control The EQ control allows you to adjust the depth of the EQ curve for preferred tonal response, from relatively flat with a slight mid-range boost, through to a formed mid response with a cut at around 400Hz. The depth of mid-range cut is continuously variable between the two extremes. You will find that the combination of the two channels and the carefully voiced EQ result in a huge range of great bass tones. - Compression Control COMPRESSION is used to subtly smooth out the dynamic range of an audio signal, therefore softening the peaks and attack, as well as boosting the volume of lower levels which then increases sustain. The compression ratio of the in-built compressor is variable so you can dial in exactly the response you want. - Gain Control The Gain control adjusts the preamp instrument level and also the amount of overdrive. When the Clean Channel is selected, low to medium settings will deliver a clean sound and as the Gain is increased the sound will gradually become more overdriven. When the Overdrive channel is selected (OD switch) there will be moderate overdrive at all Gain settings, which again increases as the control is turned clockwise. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B01C8PSVUU | | Amplifier Type | Solid State | | Audio Output Mode | Clean, Overdrive | | Best Sellers Rank | 50,382 in Musical Instruments & DJ ( See Top 100 in Musical Instruments & DJ ) 86 in Bass Amplifiers | | Box Contents | Fly 3 Bass Ampo | | Brand | BLACKSTAR | | Brand Name | BLACKSTAR | | Colour | Black | | Compatible Devices | Bass Guitar, Double Bass, Electric Upright | | Compatible devices | Bass Guitar, Double Bass, Electric Upright | | Connector Type | 3.5mm Jack | | Customer Reviews | 4.2 out of 5 stars 552 Reviews | | Enclosure Material | Plastic | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00845644003068, 04959112181182 | | Item Dimensions D x W x H | 14.2D x 19.3W x 10.9H centimetres | | Item Type Name | Mini Bass Amplifier 3 Watt | | Item Weight | 0.8 Kilograms | | Manufacturer | Blackstar | | Manufacturer Part Number | FLY3BASS | | Material | Plastic | | Model Name | Combo Blackstar para bajo FLY-BASS | | Model Number | FLY3BASS | | Number of Bands | 1 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Output Channel Quantity | 2 | | Output Wattage | 3 Watts | | Output wattage | 3 Watts | | Power Source | Battery Powered | | Product Warranty | 1 | | Product dimensions | 14.2D x 19.3W x 10.9H centimetres | | Sound Profile | Clean, Overdrive | | Speaker Size | 2 Inches | | UPC | 650234204219 755756646971 845644003068 | ## Product Details - **Brand:** BLACKSTAR - **Colour:** Black - **Compatible devices:** Bass Guitar, Double Bass, Electric Upright - **Material:** Plastic - **Output wattage:** 3 Watts ## Images ![Blackstar Fly 3 Bass Guitar Portable Battery 3 Watt Powered Mini Combo Amp MP3 Line In & Headphone Line Out - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61uS1GIWegL.jpg) ![Blackstar Fly 3 Bass Guitar Portable Battery 3 Watt Powered Mini Combo Amp MP3 Line In & Headphone Line Out - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61+ngZLcgFL.jpg) ![Blackstar Fly 3 Bass Guitar Portable Battery 3 Watt Powered Mini Combo Amp MP3 Line In & Headphone Line Out - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51UpuaeCsiL.jpg) ![Blackstar Fly 3 Bass Guitar Portable Battery 3 Watt Powered Mini Combo Amp MP3 Line In & Headphone Line Out - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61rDJl2fnlL.jpg) ![Blackstar Fly 3 Bass Guitar Portable Battery 3 Watt Powered Mini Combo Amp MP3 Line In & Headphone Line Out - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61znqq3To4L.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Really? david bowie's album name and logo? how's this possible???** A: We love Bowie too, but Blackstar started in 2007, long before his 2016 album. **Q: I have a question. The model Specified on this page is for bass guitar???** A: Yes, it is specified for bass guitar. The compressor is useful for something this small being used for bass and actually at low volumes reproduces low B better than expected. **Q: Please tell me, does the ⅛" imput socket on the amplifier's top (described as an MP3 input "for jamming along") accept and play an analog/mic signal?** A: No, it's line level input socket. You can't connect microphone directly to the line level input socket. You need a microphone pre-amplifier for that. As soon your microphone is amplified ( using an optional mic pre-amp) you can connect it to that "MP3" line level socket. **Q: Can this be used during a parade for portable usage?** A: It is better used inside, but it can be used for a parade. You may have to mic it. Not sure if it would be loud enough without. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic for its size... *by R***D on 24 December 2025* Wouldn't work in the Albert Hall but perfect for practicing and small environments like folk clubs. be realistic and don't expect too much and it won't annoy the neighbours but this is probably the best out there for its size - it's dinky.
