When it's close to freezing I have to wear inner gloves and huge, baggy, sweaty insulated waterproof outer gloves. It doesn't feel nice on the controls and my fingers are always cold after an hour anyway. Bar mitts are the first thing I've tried in many years of cycling that actually keep my hands warm. Although I'm very lightly built I bought the large as recommended in other reviews and they work fine. The larger entry hole lets more cold air in but means I can take my hands off the bars to signal and grip the controls again without a second thought. I can now wear ordinary cold weather (autumn/spring) gloves with thin palms inside the bar Mitts so I can feel the levers properly. Think of them as mini-fairings rather than hand mitts and you'll get the idea. This is my second pair, one for Shimano and one for Campag on my second bike, both fit and work perfectly. A real surprise was that installation only takes a minute, no fuss, so you could take them on/off before every ride if the temperature was up and down. As an extra luxury you can drop heated hand warmers inside too! Downsides are that you're basically restricted to one hand position (on the hoods) and you can feel the steering twitching a little more in strong sidewinds. Both minor points compared to the warmth offered. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Winter comfort *by H***Y on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 December 2015* These Mitts have changed the game for me on my hour and fifteen commute to work in the balmy climes of Cumbria. I used to suffer when I got in the shower as my hands warmed up, even when wearing thick gloves, but with the Mitts on I can comfortably use a thin pair. They took a little bit of getting used to when it came to locating the opening in traffic, but it became subconscious fairly quickly. On the sizing conundrum, I take medium gloves and so went for a medium Mitt, as suggested on the U.S. site and it has worked well for me. I would even say that if I ever need to buy a new pair I would go for a small because they are made of neoprene and would keep you warm even if they were a little tighter. I really like the reflective detailing.The only negatives I can come up with is that they look a bit odd, but then riding a bike in the pitch black in winter is inherently a bit strange so roll with it and enjoy having warm hands, they can be a bit clammy (on a warmer day when I really should have taken them off) and when it is really windy (gusting over 30mph- weather one should really be in a car for!) it can get a bit twitchy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Modified these to just cover the essentials on my road-bike ... *by S***9 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 April 2016* Modified these to just cover the essentials on my road-bike hoods.
