It is a very sensitive alarm. Once you have removed it from the wet clothes dry it with kitchen roll straight away while holding the button to turn it off then it should stop quickly. The first night we set the device with the alarm and woke at 3 in the morning to my son crying and unable to turn the device off, obviously soaking wet. Some reviews have said the alarm isn't that loud but it really is! We thought it was the fire alarm! My son was unable to turn the alarm off because the sensor was wet so the button doesn't actually turn the alarm off so going forward we set the device to vibrate and my son had to unplug it so it didn't keep going off while he went for a wee, then plug it back in. For that reason I would say this device would only work for an older child. He used the device for a few weeks and had a couple of near misses but for the last 2 weeks he has been dry and is no longer using it. You need a little patience and it isn't perfect but it really does work.
