I usually buy the 2B red and black but thought I'd try these as they are a little cheaper. Same great quality. The lead writes/draws in a slightly lighter grey sheen than the red and black. The red and black write darker with less of a sheen. I prefer the red and black. But in no way am I disapointed...the two types both have their +ves and -ves... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ B pencils for Sketching *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 16 December 2015* I recently started sketching for the first time ever and realised I need to use the correct pencils to get the best results. This box of 12 pencils arrived already sharpened and when I needed to sharpen them again it was easy and the lead did not break-off.I am new to using these pencils so not an expert to comment, I can only say how I found them and they were smooth, soft to use and great for a beginner like me. Another important point to mention is when you rub out/erase a mistake, it rubs out clear with no traces of what you have rubbed out, perfect for sketching.I did a bit of research online and it seems that B pencils are the ones to use for sketching.I decided on Staedtler because they were a name I recognised and they have been around for a long time.
