The instructions clearly state for use only with 800 watt microwaves. As other reviewers have stated, you can use it with higher power ovens. It will not damage the toaster itself. But if you try to follow the instructions with a 1200 watt oven, you’ll be sorely disappointed. Any cheese will melt completely, and the bread may get rock hard. The trick with a more powerful oven is to remember to reduce its power. My microwave is 1250. I put it on half power. It took several tries to figure out the best settings and cook time to get a good grilled ham and cheese sandwich. But it was certainly worth the effort! But to my pleasant surprise, its silicone. And the grill plates pop ALL THE WAY out of the silicone, so there’s never going to be icky residue getting stuck in crannies that cant be cleaned. (Just make sure the grills align when reassembling as noted in the instructions). I sprayed my bread with some olive oil, 2 slices of cheese. 1 minute on each side (1000W) and instant hot snack. Sorry no photos, i was anxious to get my grub on.Want grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch at the office? This is your ticket. Just bring your potholders, this bad boy is hot when its done.
