## Description

From the manufacturer The Trangia Principle The heart of the storm-proof Trangia stove system is the two-part windshield. The ventilation holes in the lower windshield are turned to face the wind to increase the oxygen supply to the burner. If the wind becomes too strong, the stove is turned to maintain the required flame. The Trangia spirit burner runs on alcohol based fuels such as methylated spirits which are low cost, safe and readily available. The combined frying pan/lid can be put on top of the pan to speed up heating and save fuel. The stove stands stable, with the pan on the supports recessed into the upper windshield. The supports are turned upwards when the frying pan is used. The Trangia stove can also be used with a gas, multi-fuel or gel burner, which all can be found in the Trangia range of accessories. Chosing the right Trangia stove Which size? Trangia 25 Series (3-4 person). All have 2 pans (1.5L and 1.75L), a 22cm frying pan, upper and lower windshields, a burner, a pan handle and strap. Trangia 27 Series (1-2 person). All contain 2 x 1L pans (1 graded, 1 ungraded), an 18cm frying pan, upper and lower windshields, a burner, a pan handle and strap. With or without a kettle? All stoves in the larger 25 Series are available with a 0.9L kettle. The smaller 27 Series stoves are available with a 0.6L kettle. Which base material? Ultralight/UL Aluminium is lighter and 50% stronger than standard aluminium and has superb thermal conductivity. Non-Stick is available in the frying pans and pots. Hard-Anodised/HA pots and pans receive a treatment making them hard and scratch resistant without adding weight. Duassol is a laminate of aluminium for conductivity on the outside and stainless steel on the inside for increased durability. Which burner? The Spirit Burner uses alcohol based fuels such as methylated spirits. Easy to use thanks to the simple construction, a filling (max. 2/3 of the burner) burns for approx. 25 min, boiling 1L of water in 10 mins. The Gas Burner is easy to use, has a fast boiling time and keeps the pots soot free. Boils 1L of water in about 3.5 mins. Review: Trangia: the benchmark micro spirit burner - This is a good quality item with a couple of features rival models don't have: the variable heat controller, which doubles as a flame snuffer, and the screw-on cap that allows you to leave spirit in the burner. Apparently about 1 in 20 of these burners leak from the main seam when spirit is left in. Mine is OK. You can solder the seam to repair it, if you don't want to return a faulty item. Could be better in the long run, anyway. Runs on meths or bioethanol. Apparently bioethanol can be burned indoors with no flue needed, it doesn't produce carbon monoxide. Bioethanol burns a bit hotter, costs a fraction more in England, is easy to get from B&Q or via desertcart. When using meths, add 5% water to it and this helps prevent any soot. Or just add some of that vile rum someone gave you at Xmas. These burners light up and run at low output for 30 seconds, then they 'bloom' as the unit superheats the air channel in the wall of the device, creating a superheated flame. The burners partner well with the Trangia cooking kits 25, 27, and 28 as you need a pot holder. Also with the Tomshoo wood gasifier mini stove, used as a burner holder / windbreak / pan support. A kit like this is a fine backup on a long-distance voyaging sailboat, in case your cooking propane runs out or there is an electrical problem that hinders electric cooking. The meths or bioethanol fuel are easy and compact to store long term with no problems. These burners are the Swedish army personal cooking solution for use in the field, and work down to -10C with no change; below that you add a widget on the bottom of the burner to pre-heat it. It's probably good to -20C.
Review: A Timeless Classic - If you don't want to read my waffle- Yes, I wholeheartedly recommend this product =) My main outdoor activities are backpacking & bikepacking. I'm a stove nerd! I just love stoves- gas, multifuel, wood or alcohol- & cooking or brewing up whilst outdoors. How could you not want one of these old skool, classic, brassy beauties? They've been in constant production since 1925 & stood the test of time. Yes, they're not the lightest burner available & they're not the smallest either. If you want a sub 15g burner, you won't be looking here. Those goodies are tucked away elsewhere on the internet. What you get here is a solid, robust burner. You can keep a small amount of fuel in the burner with the screwcap fitted, no more farting around trying to pour excess fuel back into your fuel bottle! The dual purpose simmer ring/ snuffer either puts the flame out or allows you to get all Chef Corso (Outdoor Eats) & knock out some a la carte outdoor nosh to impress your maties. This really is the burner that burns- simple. I've matched my burner up with a Toaks 900 pot, a titanium trivet, & pimped up, folding windshield. Overnight I use a 125ml Nalgene bottle or a Trangia fuel bottle for multi day wanders. So, when you fire up this bad girl, know that you're sparking up a pedigree item of gear & also know that you join a long line of outdoor, rugged, ancestors, that stretches back into the dark mists of time. Happy Trails...

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Could i use this as a tent warmer or do you need good ventilation as out side use**
A: In a word NO -
Unless you want to be burned alive like a kebab in your sleeping bag. Tents are highly flammable as is most outdoors kit nowadays, I would strongly recommend that any stove, fire or flame is kept a safe distance away from your tent (even cooking in the vestibule is risky). This amazing burner is an alcohol stove burner and as such has the inherent risks of the fumes as well as the risk of spilling the fuel while it is lit, let alone the hot flame setting the whole tent on fire. Also the fact that any flame eats up O2 (which you need to live) and produces CO2 (which can kill you), so yes it requires proper ventilation (like me when I fart).
If you want something to keep you warm at night the following is a good list of non-burn-victim alternatives that I would recommend (not in any particular order of preference): water-bottle with hot water in a sock, chemical hand-warmers, A jumper/hat/gloves/socks....etc., massive sleeping bag, big duvet, insulation from the ground, a dog (I prefer ones that don't fart as much), girlfriend (I prefer ones that don't fart as much, or complain about me farting).

Hope this is of help and helps avoid you burning to death.

**Q: Does anyone have any idea of the liquid capacity of the stove, I want to buy a plastic fuel bottle that will hold 2 refills worth**
A: Volume: max. 70 ml (burner should be filled up to 2/3)

**Q: What is the width of the base please - my cooker takes a burner upto 6.5cm wide?**
A: My Trangia burner is 7.0 cm diameter across the base.

**Q: What fuel is used with this? I know its alcohol but which is best, cleanest etc and available on amazon?**
A: Best to have a look at the Trangia website. They have a very nice explanation of the different suitable fuel types.
In the UK you are most likely going to be using Meths (methylated spirits) as it is the easiest type to get hold of. In the UK they tend to dye this purple to help identify it as not for drinking.

Hope that helps.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ *Incl. burntests* Great stove - Lightweight, effective and cheap to run.
*by K***. on 10 December 2017*

Very good alcoholstove. Can't really go wrong with this in my opinion. It will hold a fair amount of alcohol. I have forgotten how much, but it's close to what my extra bottle can hold, so roughly 120 ml inside the Trangia. The rubberseal works very well, and you can infact transport the Trangia with alcohol in it. I've done that before, worked fine. Beside that, I just carry another 120 ml. of alcohol in a small bottle. Important NOT to use the lid with the seal to put out the fire, so you don't ruin the rubberseal. Whats also so great about the Trangia is that its small, lightweight and it's really cheap to run, compared to gasstoves. I have done a series of burntests, and the burntime depend alot on the conditions. Tests done without simmerring. Tests were done with 93% Ethanol, denatured. And boiled in a pathfinder cup, ontop of a Lixada folding woodstove. For comparison: 30 ml. of alcohol will burn for 8 minutes INSIDE and bring 500 ml. of water up to 95 Celsius 30 ml. of alcohol will burn for 7 minutes OUTSIDE and bring 500 ml. of water up to 80 Celsius 40 ml. of alcohol will burn for 8 min. 30 sec. OUTSIDE and bring 500 ml. of water up to 95 Celsius A full Trangia will burn for 25-30 min. OUTSIDE
